How to reset Ivy Home charger wifi.

To reset the Wi-Fi on your Ivy Home charger, follow the simple steps below:

Unplug the charger.
Remove the front cover by removing the 4 screws at each corner of the charging station.
With the front cover placed to the side, locate the DIP switch on the charging station circuit board. The DIP switch is a 4-position switch on the main circuit board, located directly to the left of the LED.
Move the DIP switch #1 to the down position. This applies to all 40A, 32A, 24A amperage settings. For 16A, set DIP #2 to the up position to set the chargers to 20A before proceeding.
Plug the charger back in. Wait 2 minutes. Ensure the indicator light is Blue/Magenta alternating with 1-second frequency.
Unplug the charger again.
Set the DIP switch back to the original position.
Plug the charger in. It will display the Blue/Magenta alternating indicator light.
Connect the charger to your Wi-Fi and mobile app. You can follow the instructions here.

How do I set up a charging schedule?

By using the smart charging schedule feature on your Ivy Charging Network 2.0 app you can conveniently set up specific times for charging, optimizing energy usage and ensuring your EV is always ready when you need it. Follow the simple steps below to set your charging schedule:

Log into the Ivy Charging Network 2.0 app.
Select My Charger.
On the screen under Charging schedule select Schedule.
A reminder on the screen will appear asking “Did you turn off the schedule in your car?” since the schedule in your car must be disabled to manage your charging schedule in-app. Once you confirm this select Got it.
On the next screen select Schedule.
Set your preferred charging hours and click Save once complete.
You can view your charging schedule under My charger or make changes at any point if you decide.

How do I troubleshoot connection errors for the Ivy Home charger?

If your Ivy Home charger is not connecting to the network, ensure the following:

Ensure network frequency is 2.4ghz.
Ensure that signal strength is adequate.
Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct.
Check if Network Filters/Firewalls are blocking charger communication.

Signal strength

It is important to ensure a Wi-Fi signal strength of –67 dBm or greater where the charger is located. Check your location’s Wi-Fi signal strength to ensure a quality EV charging experience. You can use third-party mobile apps available to test the strength of your connection. For locations that don’t have sufficiently strong Wi-Fi signal, follow one of the steps below to improve signal strength:

Move the Wi-Fi router as close to your EV charger as possible for the simplest solution.
Wi-Fi repeaters or extenders can boost the signal of existing access points.
Multiple access points may be required to provide network coverage.

Wi-Fi connection indicator

If the connection is successful, the Wi-Fi network UC_Smart_[ChargerSerial#] will no longer be discoverable and the indicator light on the charger will altnerate between Blue and Cyan.

Password

Ensure the Wi-Fi password entered matches the Wi-Fi network settings exactly. The charger will recycle the connection if password information is incorrect.

The password limit for the charger is 38 characters. The charger will not connect to Wi-Fi networks with passwords longer than this limit.

Consider the vehicle’s range and whether or not it is built for DC charging (Level 3), as that will determine whether you spend a few minutes in a public charging station or a few hours. You want to make sure your tires are well inflated so they may have the best traction and respond to your brakes properly.

Whether you rely on GPS or a traditional map, be sure to research EV-friendly destinations along your route. Though there are three levels of EV charging, only two of them are viable for home installation and use. In this blog, we’ll explore whether your house can handle a home charging solution to help you make an informed decision.

Three levels of EV charging.

There are three levels of EV chargers, each one more powerful than the last but also with more power requirements. Level 1 chargers work with 120V, and they are the slower option, taking 11–20 hours to fill an empty battery completely. Level 2 chargers are closer to the standard. They work with 240V and can charge an empty battery in 3–8 hours. Level 3 is the fastest, but it requires Direct Current, which is unavailable in homes. Instead, let’s focus on Levels 1 and 2, as they are the realistic solutions to your home charging needs.

A Level 2 charger typically operates on a 240-volt circuit, which is similar to the electrical supply used by heavy-duty appliances like electric stoves or dryers. Though they are technically fit for any house, we encourage you to inspect your home’s setup with the help of a professional to determine its capability. Commonly, the first step is to assess your electrical panel’s capacity—the central hub that distributes electricity throughout your home. Here are some key factors to consider:

Panel Capacity: Check the amp rating on your electrical panel. Most residential panels in Canada are rated for 100 or 200 amps. A 200-amp panel is typically sufficient for Level 2 charging, but a 100-amp panel may require an upgrade.
Available Circuit Space: Determine if you have available circuit breaker slots in your electrical panel. A Level 2 charger typically requires a dedicated circuit, meaning it should not share the electrical load with other appliances or outlets.
Load Calculation: Assess the overall electrical load in your home. Consider the power consumption of existing appliances, heating, and cooling systems. Ensure that adding a Level 2 charger won’t overload the panel and compromise safety.
