Ivy Charging Network announces new location in Peterborough

-Ivy is building Ontario’s largest electric vehicle fast-charger network-

Peterborough, ON, December 15, 2020 – Today, Ivy Charging Network announced it is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) fast-charger network to Peterborough. The new location will open in early 2021 at Tim Hortons on 1144 Lansdowne St. West. Ivy Charging Network is a joint venture between Hydro One and Ontario Power Generation (OPG).

“Hydro One is proud to energize life in Ontario while creating opportunities for a better and brighter future,” said Jason Rakochy, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Growth for Hydro One, and Co-President of Ivy Charging Network. “We are expanding to Peterborough to ensure that EV drivers today and in the future have a trusted network to get them where they need to go.”

Ivy’s locations offer multiple level 3 fast-chargers near well-traveled routes while also connecting more rural and remote areas alleviating range anxiety as Ivy’s location will be less than 100 kilometres apart on average. By the end of 2021, Ivy will be Ontario’s largest and most connected EV fast-charger network with more than 70 locations across Ontario.

“At OPG, we are committed to powering Ontario with clean, reliable energy while innovating for the future,” said Theresa Dekker, Vice President, Corporate Business Development & Strategy for OPG, and Co-President of Ivy Charging Network. “Ivy is one the ways we can continue delivering on that commitment while encouraging adoption of EVs through a fast-charger network that connects Ontario from north to south and east to west.”

Earlier this year, Hydro One and OPG announced the launch of Ivy Charging Network at the 2020 Canadian International Autoshow. Natural Resources Canada, through its Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative, provided an $8 million repayable contribution to Hydro One and OPG to help build the EV network.

“We are providing greener options for Canadians to get where they need to go. This will help us get to net zero by 2050,” said Seamus O’Regan, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources.
