Ivy Charging Network enhances EV charging experience at select ONroute locations

Ivy Charging Network is thrilled to announce a series of major upgrades to enhance your EV charging experience at 11 ONroute locations. These improvements are designed to make charging faster, more reliable, and more accessible for the growing number of EV drivers across Ontario.

What’s changing?

As part of our commitment to supporting sustainable travel, Ivy is replacing most of the existing chargers at these locations with upgraded dual-port charging units for a highly improved charging experience. This upgrade will effectively increase the number of charging ports at each site, reducing wait times and ensuring a smoother charging experience for EV drivers.

Each new charger will allow two cars to charge simultaneously with dynamic power sharing. When multiple vehicles are charging at the same time, dynamic power sharing automatically allocates charging power (kW) across charging ports to match vehicle demand. For example, when some EVs approach a higher state of charge, the charging speed naturally reduces, freeing up power that can then be allocated to another EV.

Construction plan.

To minimize disruptions, the upgrade process will be completed in phases starting Winter 2025 at these ONroute locations. Please check the Ivy app for real-time charger status so you can plan your route accordingly.

  • Phase 1 (January 2025): ONroute King City, Innisfil
  • Phase 2 (Winter 2025): ONroute Cambridge North, Cambridge South, Port Hope
  • Phases 3 + 4 (Timing TBD): ONroute Odessa, Mallorytown North, Mallorytown South, Trenton North, Trenton South

While weather-related delays, and temporary unavailability of chargers may be a concern to drivers, we are committed to maintaining access to some chargers wherever possible. Our construction schedule has been carefully planned to minimize disruption to drivers, and customers can find alternative charging options through the Ivy app or other navigational app.

As with any new technology, there may be a short adjustment period as the new chargers are calibrated. Rest assured, we will be closely monitoring performance to address any issues promptly.
