The challenge.
As a leader in clean energy, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) was looking to enhance their sustainability efforts by improving the workplace charging experience for their EV-driving employees. Their existing level 2 EV chargers were unreliable and often blocked by non-EV drivers, leaving employees dependent on public charging options only. OPG’s goal was to provide employees with convenient charging options at the workplace, increase employee retention and satisfaction, and advance their environmental goals.
The solution.
To address these challenges, OPG partnered with Ivy Charging Network to implement a structured, efficient EV charging solution which included:
- Site selection: The best locations for 10 new Level 2 chargers were determined, offering up to 30-40 km of range per hour to support a full workday of charging.
- Installation: Outdated chargers were replaced with upgraded level 2 chargers on designated EV-only spaces to ensure availability and reduce congestion.
- Smart charging management: A cloud-based system now monitors usage, optimizing energy and managing access via the Ivy app, allowing employees to charge at an affordable rate to support sustainability.
The results.
The installation of EV chargers at OPG enhanced employee satisfaction and retention while reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability. This initiative helped boost employee satisfaction, reduce the company’s carbon footprint, and enhanced OPG’s reputation as a forward-thinking, environmentally responsible employer.
