-Ivy completes Northwestern Ontario portion of network with six locations- 

Kenora, ON, July 15, 2021– Today, Ivy Charging Network announced the opening of a new electric vehicle (EV) fast-charger location near Kenora in Longbow Lake, marking a milestone as the company completes the Northwestern Ontario portion of its network with 26 locations now open across Ontario. Ivy Charging Network is a joint venture between Hydro One and Ontario Power Generation (OPG).  

Ivy’s locations offer multiple level 3 fast-chargers near well-traveled routes while also connecting more rural and remote areas to alleviate range anxiety. Ivy has fast-charger locations in Atikokan, Fort Frances, Dryden, Upsala, and Thunder Bay creating an EV network that spans 800 km across Northwestern Ontario with its Longbow Lake location now complete.

“We are giving Canadians the greener options they want to get to where they need to go,” said The Honourable Seamus O’Regan Jr., Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources. “This is how we get to net zero by 2050.”

Once complete, Ivy will be Ontario’s largest and most connected EV fast-charger network. Natural Resources Canada, through its Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative, provided an $8 million repayable contribution to Hydro One and OPG to help build the EV network.
